On Saturday, April 10th, Phoenix Volunteers met at the charming Winfield’s CafĂ© in Scottsdale in hand with many generous snack donations. Volunteers put together 180 snack bags that will be given to homeless teens temporarily staying at Save the Family, a homeless shelter in Mesa.

One of the many programs offered at Save the Family is called KidsWorks, a set of courses that recognizes that children coping with domestic violence, homelessness and poverty often have difficulty vocalizing their thoughts and feelings. Through KidsWorks, Save the Family creates a safe, fun environment to help children and teenagers heal and develop healthy social skills. The snacks put together by Phoenix Volunteers will help ensure these classes include healthy snacks for the kids who attend.
